Admission requirements
Virginia Tech currently are not accepting new applications for the Arts Administration M.F.A. Program.

Contact the Department of Theatre Arts, indicating the desire to receive information about the M.F.A. Program in Arts Administration or Stage Management. Upon receipt of the letter, the Department will send information brochure, application form, and information concerning financial assistance.

Applicants must have attained a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale for all previous college work. Students with less than this required grade point average may be admitted on a provisional/special basis upon agreement of the Department and the Graduate School.

Applicants are not required to have taken the Graduate Record Examination.

Applicants must present three letters of recommendation directly related to the field of work in which they wish to enroll in the M.F.A. Program at Virginia Tech and a current resume. It is also helpful to include a statement of personal goals.
Applicants must interview with the Program Director and members of the faculty; admission to the Graduate Program is considered without interview, only if a suitable alternative method of establishing the applicant's qualifications can be arranged.
The Department of Theatre Arts offers a number of graduate Assistantships for qualified students. Each academic year, these Assistantships increase according to the national inflation rates; in the Fall of 1997, entering level Assistantships are approximately $8,300 for the nine month academic year, plus full-tuition waiver.
