Admission requirements
Applicants are expected to have extensive background in the arts as well as basic coursework in American politics and economics. Evidence of the necessary arts background may be exhibited either through holding a baccalaureate degree in one of the areas listed below or by significant experience in the arts or arts administration while holding a baccalaureate in any field. The targeted areas include art, music, theatre, dance, English, literature, or creative writing; in art, music, theatre, or dance education; in art, music, theatre, or dance history; or in comparative studies in the humanities. Other requirements include: a resume of academic and professional experience; a two-five page statement of intent; two samples of professional writing, such as publications, research papers from advanced courses, or a grant proposal, and three letters of reference. Application deadline is March 31. The GRE is required.
