8th midterm Conference of the European Research Network Sociology of the Arts

The 8th midterm Conference of the European Research Network Sociology of the Arts will take place at Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania from 4 to 6 September 2014, and will be conducted in English.
The general theme of the conference is Art and its contexts: cross-disciplinary dialogue.
Two interconnected workshops co-organized by graduate groups from Colorado State University's LEAP Institute for Arts and Leipzig's Institut für Kulturwissenschaften will be presented and are looking for participtaton.

The Research Network Sociology of the Arts is part of the European Sociological Association (ESA). Since 2001, the Network has organised a biannual conference on Sociology of the Arts. The previous midterm conferences took place in Austria (Vienna 2012), United Kingdom (Guildford 2010), Italy (Venice 2008), Germany (Lüneburg 2007), Netherlands (Rotterdam 2004), France (Paris 2003), and United Kingdom (Exeter 2001).

A key aim of these conferences is to promote collaboration and scholarly exchange between scholars of the arts, to support the presentation of new research projects and to offer inspiration for the further development of sociology of the arts.
