Call for Papers: VIIth International Forum of Arts and Cultural Management (FIGAC) on Training and Professionalization

The International Forum of Arts and Cultural Management (FIGAC) is a scientific and cultural event promoted since 2010 by the undergraduate course of Arts and Cultural Management (BA) at the Higher School of Education of the Viana do Castelo Polytechnic, Northern Portugal. FIGAC aims to promote dialogue and reflection on aspects related to contemporary cultural management at national and international level, and it has the medium term aim of establishing itself as a reference with regard to the dissemination of good practices, promotion and discussion of scientific literature on contemporary topics on cultural management. The VIIth edition of FIGAC will take place on June 2nd - 3rd, 2016, and will address the issue of Cultural Management: Training and Professionalization.

The Scientific Commission invites you to present and share your expertise and knowledge, and to contribute to the reflection and promotion of this sector. Of particular interest this year is a focus on Cultural Management Genealogy, Training and Professionalization Identity of the Cultural Manager in the XXI century; Training of Professionals in the Cultural and Creative Sector; Employment in the Cultural and Creative Sector; Mediation and Cultural Management; Cooperation and Internationalization of Cultural Manager.

Abstracts must be submitted online until January 21st, 2016, through the form available online on FIGACs website. Abstracts will be evaluated anonymously by two members of the scientific committee of VII FIGAC. The evaluation will take into account the papers unique contribution to the treated theme, the use of relevant sources and the clear description of the arguments.

Authors will be notified of the decision until January 31st, 2016. The first author of every selected abstracts has to register for FIGAC until February 20th 2016 through the form available online; and submit the paper until March, 31st 2016 by email in order to allow its publication in the E-book of FIGAC 2016.

The selected papers will be grouped into thematic panels with the duration of 90 minutes each. In each panel four papers will be presented (12 minutes for each) and at the end of the communications there shall be time for discussion of the presented papers (30 minutes).

Guidelines for abstract submission

  • Abstract submission should be made through the online form
  • Each participant may be the first author of only one proposal
  • Languages: Portuguese, Spanish or English
  • Abstract Length: 250 words
  • Paper Length: 2500 words
Basic structure of the Paper: Title; Authors Identification (Name, Institutional Affiliation, City, Country); Abstract (250 words); 3-5 keywords; Text body (quotes, references, tables, charts and graphs along the text body; footnotes numbered sequentially and placed at the bottom of each page); References (APA)

Registration fees (Includes all Congress documentation, certificate of attendance, coffee breaks and publication of the paper in the FIGAC 2016 E-book)

  • 15 EUR: Students from the IPVC
  • 30 EUR: Students from other Higher Education Institutions
  • 75 EUR: Teachers, Researchers, Professionals of Cultural and Creative Sector
