AIMAC International Association of Arts and Cultural Management Conference 2024

AIMAC 2024 will be hosted by ISCTE, University Institute of Lisbon, Portugal from June 24th to 26th, 2024. Researchers are invited to submit proposals for paper presentations. The International Journal of Arts Management will consider with interest submissions made by conference participants in the Journal following the conference. Abstracts must be uploaded, through the conference website, no later than October 31st, 2023.
As one of the most prestigious academic conference in art and cultural management, AIMAC, the International Association of Arts and Cultural Management, has been held successfully for 16 times during the last three decades. AIMAC conferences address all the dimension of management perspectives and every sector of cultural and creative industries. They have a real international dimension, providing opportunities to share experiences and lessons from dozens of countries, from all the continents.
 
Proposals from any relevant discipline will be considered, provided they make an original academic contribution to the study of cultural management. This scientific conference will address various sectors of the arts and cultural industries (performing arts and festivals, heritage, museums and visual arts, film production and distribution, book publishing, recording, broadcasting, audio-visual media and multimedia, design, etc.). Papers on all management approaches are welcome: marketing, strategic planning, production, organizational structure and behavior, art consumption and consumer studies, accounting and finance, internet and information systems, cultural policies and public support and so on. Papers from social scientists are also welcome if they focus on management issues.
 
The organizers are also interested in art and art management talents cultivation, their roles and contributions to arts and cultural industries as a whole. They welcome all kinds of papers that connect academic researches with broader practical and industrial context in this field.

Abstracts for the 17th International Conference on Arts and Cultural Management (AIMAC) must be uploaded, through the conference website, no later than October 31st, 2023 Authors will be informed of acceptance in January 2024.
 
All documents, abstracts and papers should be written in English. So do oral presentations.
 
Doctoral Symposium
 
The 9th AIMAC Doctoral Symposium continues a tradition started in 2013 which aims to develop a supportive and inclusive community of PhD students and scholars, and to foster dialogue and future collaborations. In 2024, it will be held in Lisbon on the weekend preceding the biennial AIMAC conference, on Saturday 22nd June and Sunday 23rd June.
 
The Symposium blends paper presentations, plenary sessions, research sprints, campfire sessions and networking events. It is a unique opportunity to receive constructive and developmental feedback from established scholars in the field of arts, cultural and media management.
 
How to Apply
 
The organizers welcome applications from second, third and fourth-year doctoral students from all disciplines of arts and cultural management. Places are limited to make the most of the learning and networking opportunities offered by the Symposium.
 
Please combine all application materials into one PDF file including:
 
  • A short biography of not more than 100 words.
  • A one-page summary of your dissertation proposal or expected dissertation topic.
  • An application letter of not more than 400 words explaining why you wish to take part in the doctoral symposium and what you expect to gain from it.
  • A curriculum vitae, including the name of your supervisor and (if already known) of the members of your thesis committee.
  • A letter of recommendation from your supervisor.
Symposium fees of TBC per participant include:
 
  • Sessions, plenaries, lunches and coffee breaks on 22 and 23 June
  • Evening drinks and nibbles reception on Saturday 22 June
Applicants will be informed of acceptation decisions in 31th of January 2024. Those invited to participate in the Symposium will then be asked to submit a paper for presentation (maximum 6,000 words, in compliance with the conference submission requirements).
