CfP: MuseumNext Australia 2018

Since 2009, MuseumNext conferences have focused on the future of museums and how the sector is forging ahead, showcasing innovative ideas and delivering thought-provoking insight. MuseumNext is a catalyst for innovation, transformation and collaboration in museums, galleries and heritage sites. Every MuseumNext conference has a theme, around which the community comes together to discuss the future of museums. The topic of MuseumNext Australia 2018 is inspired by the World Science Festival which will coincide with MuseumNext Australia. The conference with three days of presentations, discussions and debates will take place at Brisbanes South Bank, Australia, from 19-21 March 2018. Deadline for submission is 15 September 2017.
Proposals on the theme of Intersections are invited:

  • Unusual Collaborations How has your institution brought together strange bedfellows to produce spectacular results?
  • Cross-disciplinary How are you using art to explain science or science to explain art?
  • Connecting People How can a museum create connections between its visitors?
  • Or Own ideas abouthow the theme of Intersections relates to museums.
MuseumNext follows a fast-paced format of twenty-minute presentations with the focus very much on practice rather than theory (please note that this is the only format that will be used at this event and longer presentations or workshops wont be possible at this time).

Proposals for presentations should contain a title, names of presenters, a summary of the themes to be addressed, relevant links as well as a description of the expected learning outcomes.

One free ticket per session is offered for those speakers at the conference, and speakers are responsible for their own travel and accommodation.

All proposals should be submitted via this form. Deadline for submission is 15 September 2017.
