Call for Proposals : Doctoral Colloquium - 11th Annual Conference of the Association for Arts Management

The Young Academics Working Group of the Association of Cultural Management in the German-speaking countries would like to invite PhD and doctorate students as well as advanced students in Arts and Cultural Management to submit proposals for its doctoral colloquium. It is part of the 11th Annual Conference of the Association for Arts Management (Fachverband Kulturmanagement for Germany, Austria & Switzerland) which takes place in Hamburg, Germany from 17 to 20 January 2018. Deadline for submitting proposals is 15 October 2017.

The doctoral colloquium is open to any thematic and methodological focus within the field of Arts and Cultural Management. Proposals may be submitted and presentations may be held in English or German. Welcomed are international students as well as work in progress. The doctoral colloquium provides an opportunity to present the work and receive qualified feedback from the scientific community.

In the proposal, the research topic and main research question should be described briefly. Additionally, we would like to ask you to state a key problem or specific issue (concerning e.g. methods, design, concept, reference to theories etc.) that participants would like to discuss with peers and professors. Each presentation may take up to 15 min, followed by 15 min discussion.

The deadline for submissions (approximately 1 page) is 15 October 2017.

They can be sent to youngacademics@fachverband-kulturmanagement.org. On the submission's cover sheet, the following information should be provided: name, (working) title of the project, supervisor, institution/university and start of the project.

The Association for Cultural Management will confirm the participation in the doctoral colloquium. Students pay the reduced conference fee.

The topic of the conference is cultural leadership, an issue that has gained increasing attention in the discourses of cultural management and cultural policy, as well as in the curricula of international study and higher education programmes. In many of these contexts, cultural leadership is presented as a force for innovation and transformation of organizations and societies.

Young academics are also invited to join the facebook-group (operating in German and English): Fachverband Kulturmanagement Doktoranden und Nachwuchsforscher Forum.
