Start: 2017-09-07 01:00
End: 2017-09-09 00:00
Location: Latvian National Museum of Art
Place: Riga
The Conference Building a Museum takes place in Riga, Latvia from 7-9 September 2017.

Museum as a catalyst for creativity and growth, a key factor in a larger regeneration plan? Museums have been playing a central role in the regeneration game of the cities, at least since the (Guggenheim) Bilbao effect. This NEMO event, together with NEMO's partner Creative Museum, will look at how capital investments in museums in Riga contribute to the economy and social cohesion of the capital city of Latvia. Focusing specifically on museums and creative industries, it will offer a platform to discuss what works, what hinders cooperation both locally and at European scale.

The event sees practical approaches to the topic with visits to the Riga Motor Museum, the Latvian National Museum of Art, Zanis Lipke Memorial and the Latvian National Museum of History. In these locations, the concepts of the museums will be approached from the different perspectives of architects, designers and museum professionals.

The participation at the conference is free for NEMO members and associated members. Please contact NEMO office for details: office@ne-mo.org

A limited number of places is available for non-NEMO members at the price of 50 euro per participant. Please contact the organisers in Riga: ineta.simansone@creativemuseum.lv
