Pay in museums makes predictably disturbing reading but also demonstrates the value of properly conducted sector-wide research to inform debate and policy making. Many of the findings confirm what anyone working in the sector knows. But beneath the headlines they expose some important nuances. Not everyone has fared equally badly, or rather some have done much worse than others.
