Artists for Europe appeal
In June 2004, an appeal for a Europe founded on its culture was launched by the director of La Monnaie opera house in Brussels, supported by IETM, the European Writers Congress, Europa Nostra and EFAH. The appeal and list of signatories was presented to then EU president Romano Prodi, and stimulated a wide-ranging response from many European heads of state.
At the occasion of the Paris Rencontres on 2-3 May 2005, it was decided to re-launch the appeal and aim to collect a thousand signatures of artists and cultural operators from across Europe to support the appeal. Mobilising artists and cultural operators is becoming more and more important to give substance to the political statements made in recent weeks.
We urge you to join the appeal and add your signature on the new website: www.artistsforeurope.org
