Can the Knowledge-Creation Process Be Managed? A Case Study of an Artist Training Project
This study analyses the knowledge-creation process in the TARU artist training project, focusing on how different conceptions of knowledge affect the learning process and how the learning process can be nurtured.
The researchers analyse the projects activities through the framework of five knowledge enablers using qualitative methodology. The results indicate that the artists expected to learn by doing and acting together, whereas the mediators had a more traditional view of learning, seeing it as the transfer of information. This finding highlights the need for planners and managers of similar projects to reflect on the nature of knowledge and on the various ways in which one learns; the key is to create a learning context and to nurture rather than manage knowledge creation.
