Conference on Creative Tourism in Barcelona
The aim of this conference is to bring together researchers, urban planners, policy designers, artists, cultural activists and tourist professionals to assess the benefits of international collaboration in the rapidly developing field of creative tourism. The conference will provide an opportunity for face-to-face networking prior to the creation of a virtual network on the Internet.
The conference programme is designed to provide ample room for networking and discussion, and participants will also have the opportunity to promote their own creative tourism projects.
The program is designed to bridge the cultures of the different sectors involved in creative tourism, and will present the general principles of creative tourism as well as more sector- specific case studies of creative tourism projects.
The conference will be opened with a presentation introducing creative tourism, given by one of the originators of the concept, Professor Greg Richards of Tilburg University in the Netherlands.
The conference sessions will focus on other specific aspects of creative tourism, depending on the specific interests of the participants:
- For artists and cultural managers developing and designing experiences for creative visitors
- For tourist professionals - exploring the new possibilities of the creative tourism market and designing effective marketing strategies.
- For urban planners and city marketing professionals analyzing the potential for developing creative tourism in their city or region.
- For researchers exploring the theoretical and applied aspects of the creative phenomenon.
Specialist workshops will also give each group the opportunity to start working on networking projects.
