Cultural Promotion Laws. Latest News
On 30 September, the new laws on cultural promotion came up for debate at the National Council (Nationalrat). In its preparatory work, the commission responsible had integrated the Pro Helvetia law into the federal law on cultural promotion with the aim of achieving a clearer definition of who is responsible for what.
The debates on these bills, which will have a decisive impact on the Arts Council's future organisation, will continue during Swiss Parliament's winter session. Pro Helvetia currently works on the basis of legal regulations dating back to 1965. The minutes of the National Council's debate can be accessed online at www.parlament.ch
