Developing aspects of cultural tourism in the Balkans
BalkanKult and association Progetto Musica are jointly working on developing cultural tourism between the two regions. This project includes networking 77 cities from both regions...
BalkanKult, regional association for cultural cooperation is a main coordinator of the project called "Developing aspects of cultural tourism in the Balkans", jointly conducted with the Italian association Progetto musica.
What is most important is that our country is involved for the first time in this significant project that is to last for three years. This project is supported by the Government of Italy and the Ministry for trade, tourism and services of Serbia and its goal is to strenghten the development of culture and tourism in Serbia and Montenegro, as well as to join cultures and make touristic potentials of our cities more available.
For the time being, Belgrade, Nis, Smederevo, Sremska Mitrovica, Bar and Cetinje, cities with the rich cultural heritage, are involved in this project.
In the first phase of the project, a music festival will be held under the title "In the sounds of the places", where eminent artists and orchestras will take their part. This will be the first step in interregional binding.
This summer, our cities will be hosts to italian artists from the eminent string orchestra Karmelos, Tries Tango, and the solo artists Vincenco Boccarelli and Marco Feri.
The realisation of the project will start on July, 27 with the Karmelos concert in Nis. What is most interesting is that they will play pieces of contemporary composers of the Western Balkans region Vladimir Tosic (Serbia), Krsto Odak (Croatia), Vlado Milosevic (Bosnia) and Thoma Gaqi (Albania).
From the 8 July to 10 July 2004, in a three days visit, we have hosted the representatives of the italian association Progetto musica from Trieste Massimo Gabellone, the president and art director, Marko Carulli, expert for the EU projects and Marko Marincic, the administrative of the Goricia county.
During they stay they have visited Belgrade, Smederevo, Nis and Sremska Mitrovica where press conferences have been held. The project "In the sounds of the places" was presented, its goals and possibilities of joint cultural cooperation.
