Endangered Dance: A National Dance Heritage Forum is a call for action, bringing attention to the critical and urgent need to protect Canadas diminishing dance heritage. This is a national forum on dance preservation and legacy issues in Canada.
Participation is vital. The forum will feature working groups, discussing problems, challenges and barriers, and identifying action steps to continue the process. Representation across Canada is important.
Endangered Dance: A Dance Heritage Forum follows two recent preservation meetings, held in conjunction with the Canada Dance Festival. These sessions were the result of a study commissioned by the Canada Council for the Arts, conducted by Theresa Rowat. The Committee for the Preservation of Canadas Dance Heritage was struck after the first set of meetings, and together, drafted Dance Heritage Strategy for Canada, which identified a number of key directions.
Dance heritage issues have long been at the centre of The Danny Grossman Dance Companys values and activities. The Danny Grossman Dance Company is proud to host this important event, bringing key figures in Canadian dance together to discuss the important issue of Canadas cultural heritage.
