Gulbenkian Prize for Museum of the Year 2005
Compton Verney and The Foundling Museum have been shortlisted for the UKs prestigious Gulbenkian Prize for Museum of the Year 2005.
The largest arts prize in the UK, £100,000 is awarded to the museum that, in the opinion of the judges, best demonstrates a track record of imagination, innovation and excellence in 2004.
LORD is proud to have worked with both Compton Verney and The Foundling Museum over the past five years leading up to their successful launches in 2004.
For both organisations LORD developed feasibility studies and business plans and provided ongoing support on market and financial planning.
The four competition finalists will be announced on 18th March 2005. Further information on the full shortlist can be found at www.thegulbenkianprize.org
Congratulations to all the shortlisted museums, representing a truly diverse range of excellent work in museums across the United Kingdom.
The Foundling Museum is also the inspiration for the first in the LORD Museum Book series published in association with Tundra Books. A Home for Foundlings, by Marthe Jocelyn will be launched in April 2005. The book series is targeted at children and encourages connections to be made between the fascinating stories of museums and their collections and the young reader and museum visitor.
