IFEA Conference 2002
February 7-11, 2002, Bonn
Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany
Summary
Arts Management Network was guest at the annual conference of the International Festival and Event Association (IFEA) Europe in Bonn, Germany. Under the main topic "e.mergingworlds@ifea - a creative journey into the culture and events business", IFEA could won a lot of outstanding keynote speakers like Jens Michow (Federal Association of the German Entertainment Industry), Prof. Dieter Haselbach (Culturplan Art Consultancy), Christian Mikunda (Comment Consulting Group and author of "The prohibited Place") or Hanns-Willy Brockes (European Sponsoring Bourse).
A deep impression Lutz Engelke left with his presentation. He undertook an exciting journey through famous cultural sites and achievements and their reflections by the media and society. He especially focused on the consequences for arts festival and other events after september 11th. As an opposite to this thoughtful presentation, Dr. Mikunda from Vienna opened the conference with impressive examples of events creations around the globe.
Beside the key note speeches, there was been held a lot of research stream workshop sessions, organised by the Sheffield University. Very useful were the chance for the audience to get in contact with the keynote speakers in further workshop sessions.
IFEA has given the proof again to be a living network of its members as well as an organizer of exciting conferences. A lot of members and non-members of IFEA came to Bonn, but unfortunately to less from Germany itself (and from Eastern and Southern Europe, too).
We are looking forward to the next conference, which will taking place in Kopenhagen October 2002.
