On the Public Provision of the Performing Arts

In the paper, the authors would like to present a model of the performing arts, and especially focus on three stylized facts the provision of the performing arts is assigned to public sector in many countries, publicly run performing arts organization usually have relatively low box-office taking in relation to operating cost, and the rate of capacity utilization is far below 100%.

As the authors mentioned, they does not intend to challenge the public provision; however, they would like to pinpoint the problems through this paper.
