Specialized employees in art preservation temporary assist museums and other art collectors
Gerlach Art Packers & Shippers, specialized in national and international art transport and in packaging and storing art, antiques and other valuables, offers a new service to museums, galleries and other art collectors as of October 2007. For Gerlach customers and other parties, it is now possible to engage special trained employees on a temporary basis. People, specialized in art preservation.
The activities that these temporary employed people carry out, specifically concern art preservation activities in the broadest sense of the word, activities that are made official in a contract. The art preservation activities focus on the collections, these collections are always leading.
The Amsterdam Historical Museum and Gerlach Art Packers & Shippers agreed that the Amsterdam Historical Museum would act as official partner for Gerlach and as a learning institute for the new Gerlach employees. Part of the training physically takes place in the Amsterdam Historical Museum, when this museum moves all objects of its collection to their new to build depot. Cultureel Erfgoed Noord Holland (Cultural Heritage North Holland) is involved in the training route as well.
An enumeration of activities that these temporary employees have to offer: installing exhibitions; placing art works in show cases and/or in depots; the implementation of preventive measures such as protective screens, sealing, clean art objects, clean depots, and/or clean the exhibition space itself.
