Vienna Music Business Research Days

The first "Vienna Music Business Research Days" are devoted to the economic impact of music file sharing as well as the concept of a music flatrate. "Vienna Music Business Research Days" were conceived in order to bring together scholars as well as practitioners from all over the world who are interested in scientific reflection on music business topics.

The conference starts with a work-shop (in German) on "Music File-Sharing Research Methods" by Prof Felix Oberholzer-Gee of Harvard Business School at the Institute of Culture Management and Culture Sciences (Karlsplatz 2/2nd floor/top 9, 1010 Vienna).
June 9, 2010, 19.30-21.30
In the evening the "Vienna Music Business Research Days" are continued with a public discussion on the economic effects of music file sharing (in German). The discussion is conducted by a journalist of the Austrian Broadcasting System and Peter Tschmuck and will be broadcast on the Austrian radio station Ö1 later on.

In the morning Prof Felix Oberholzer-Gee from Harvard Business School and Prof Stan Liebowitz from University of Texas in Dallas will present their controversial research results on music file sharing and will discuss it with the audience.
June 10, 2010, 14.00-17.30
The afternoon will be opened by Prof Peter Tschmuck from University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with a speech on the "Economics of Music File Sharing".
Afterwards the founder and CEO of the media measurement company BigChampagne, Eric Garland, will talk on ?Statistical Trends in Music Filesharing". This will result in panel discussion on music flatrate models with Eric Garland (BigChampagne), Peter Jenner (music manager), Electric Indigo (DJ and musician) and music industry representatives.
