| Description | Nätverkstan is a non-profit organisation based in Göteborg, Sweden. The organisation is a a resource and production centre for the cultural sector in West Sweden. We work within four areas: training programmes, websites and technical support, economic services, projects and surveys within the sector. Our two main training programmes are Kulturverkstan, Project Management within the Cultural Sector, and Globalverkstan, Project Management within the civil society and NGO sector. Kulturverkstan is a two-year Project Management Training Program within the Cultural Sector. Each year 35 students attend the program, all of the students are people active on the cultural scene; musicians, actors, writers, filmmakers, poets, journalists, artists, cultural entrepreneurs and so forth. Many have been working within their field for some time and want to improve their skills on management. Kulturverkstan offers students both practical means (prepare a budget, marketing, project management skills, computer skills) and the broad theoretical perspectives (studying sociology, philosophy, globalizations theory) necessary to expand their horizons. The program is based in western Sweden, in Göteborg. Three periods of work-practice are included, one of these are spent abroad on the international cultural scene. The objective of the Training Program is to provide participants with the tools required to initiate and carry out projects on the cultural arena. In addition, we hope that those who have completed our curriculum will contribute to the revitalization of organizations, businesses, and public institutions. Ultimately, they will serve as resources for the cultural life, broadening and fortifying its foundations. Those who have completed Kulturverkstan will possess the all-around innovative skills necessary to initiate and organize projects. In December 2003 we started a new education within project management. Globalverkstan is a three semester International Project Management Training Program with focus on NGO and third sector. This program will be running in English with students from all over the world. For more details see www.globalverkstan.net. Kulturverkstan started in 1999. In August 2003 the fifth group of students started, 35 students with various experiences within the cultural sector. Three groups of students have taken their exams and the majority are still working within the sector as producers, cultural entrepreneurs, cultural administrators, artists and so forth. For more details see our website. Both these programs are part of the Swedish Agency for Advanced Vocational Education, financed by the Ministry of Education, the Swedish Governement. The educations are run by Nätverkstan in cooperation with Hisingen Continuing Education Program (Studium). Nätverkstan is a company owned by cultural journals in Sweden, with the specific aim of being a platform and resource center for people within the cultural sector within technique, economy and education. |
