New Publishing Partner for Arts Management - Oldest Periodical in Field joined by AAAE
Arts Management (AM), Americas oldest continuing periodical for cultural administrators, trustees and supporters, has a new co-publisher, effective with its January-February 2009 issue. The Association of Arts Administration Educators (AAAE), the international organization of higher education degree programs in arts administration, cultural management, and cultural policy, will be responsible for insuring distribution of the periodical to arts professionals throughout the world.
Co-founded in 1962 by Alvin Toffler and current editor-writer Alvin H. Reiss, and issued without interruption since then, AM has played a key role not only in reporting on new trends and developments, but also in initiating actions to benefit the field. AM created the nations first state arts council newsletter for the New York State Council on the Arts and was the first periodical to query and publish the views of presidential candidates on the arts. Editor Reiss authored the first Resolution on the Arts passed by both the U.S. Conference of Mayors and the National League of Cities in 1974 and initiated talks with the Advertising Council leading to the first major national public service ad campaign for the arts.
Were thrilled to be partnering with this venerable publication and its extraordinary editor and author, Skip Reiss, said Andrew Taylor, president of the Association of Arts Administration Educators, and director of the Bolz Center for Arts Administration at the University of Wisconsin- Madison. Our members continually strive to define and advance the highest standards in arts and cultural leadership through our academic programs. Arts Management has been a powerful advocate and voice for that very same effort for almost five decades. The partnership is a perfect fit for our members, for our field, and for the cultural leaders struggling for insights and innovations in this difficult economy. Individual and bulk subscriptions to Arts Management, published five times a year, are available through the publication website at www.artsmanagement.org, or through the AAAE business office at 4222 Oakland Drive, Kalamazoo, MI, 49008, by phone at 269.779.2811, or by e-mail at artsmanagement@artsadministration.org
