Spanish Ministry of Culture presents Annual Report 2005
The Annual Report 2005 has been presented yesterday by the current Spanish Minister of Culture, Carmen Calvo, which is based on annual statistics in the period from 2000 until 2004, and on a survey of cultural consumer habits realized in 2003.
The main results can be summed up as follows:
- Cultural employment increased 20% since 2000: 499.500 persons were employed in the cultural sector in 2004, i.e. 2,8% of the total employment in Spain
- Cultural sales increased up to 30 Mio. Euros
- Spanish households spent 9,5 Mio. Euros in cultural consume
- Average expense per person was 223,80 Euros in 2004
- The cultural tourist sector increased significantly:
2.4 Mio. Euros were spent for cultural motivated trips made by Spanish residents, and about 6.3 Mio. Euros by foreigners
