Admission requirements
Applications will be evaluated based upon the following:
Quality of previous undergraduate and, if applicable, graduate work. CGU requires applicants to submit proof of a completed a bachelors degree from a regionally accredited college or university. The school also requires a minimum standard of a B average in undergraduate coursework (3.0 on a 4.0 scale). Applicants with international credentials must submit academic records in both their original language and literal English translation.
Strength of CV/resume. Candidates are required to submit a resume as part of the application.
Strength of personal statement. Each candidate must submit a personal statement that explains his or her academic objectives and how these fit with the candidates career goals. The statement should offer a clear picture of where the candidate pictures him or herself in five or ten years time. Limit 500 words
2 letters of recommendations. Letters should come from individuals competent to judge the candidates probable success in graduate coursework. These letters are usually from individuals the candidate knows well including former professors, mentors, supervisors or those who can give an in-depth evaluation of the candidates strengths and weaknesses in regard to his or her preparedness for graduate study.
Interviews. Promising applicants will be invited for an interview, which will be scheduled via email. Interviews are required for admission. Given the geographical spread of applicants, many interviews are conducted via Skype, though in-person interviews on CGUs campus are encouraged.
Writing sample. Candidates are asked to provide a writing sample that demonstrates the best of the candidates written and cognitive abilities. These may be course papers, published articles, professional reports, or other materials that exhibit the candidates capacity for written communication.
Application fee. A non-refundable $80 application fee is required.
Note: GRE or GMAT scores are encouraged but not required for admission. The admissions committee views such scores are just some of many pieces of information that are consulted to evaluate candidates.
INTERNATIONAL CANDIDATES AND TOEFL/IELTS REQUIREMENTS
CGU does require an English language Proficiency Exam for non-native English speakers. We require the following exam scores:
IELTS level 7
TOEFL 100 IBT for the internet based exam
If you have received an undergraduate degree from an Institute where you were taught in English it may be possible to waive the English language Proficiency Exam, upon review of your application.
International candidates whose scores do not meet the above requirement but who demonstrate good English communication skills in their interviews may be admitted contingent upon enrollment in one of the following programs provided by CGU:
