A Note from the Performance Art Urban (Perfurbance)

A so called festival, simply held but performed foreign performers with even inadequate things was what I noticed from the whole day event of Perfurbance #2 on the last April 30, 2006. Perfurbance is an acronym of performance art and urban. It is an annual festival initiated by PerformanceKlub that is chaired by Iwan Wijono focusing on the development of performance art in Indonesia and managed by a group of youths. It was established on July 31, 2003 in Yogyakarta. Perfurbance presents performance art in public spaces in Yogyakarta and sends out actual issues on urban life.

The Library Project runs from January until March 2005. It is such a development project of library activities of Cemeti Art Foundation (CAF). The project is mainly to set up a network among alternative libraries, specifically in the area of Yogyakarta. It involves their managers and librarians of different background.

In Norway, as in many other countries, cultural policies are undergoing deep change. Libraries, archives and museums used to be managed by different public bodies. From January 1, 2003 they are supervised by a single organisation. In the future, the three cultural sectors will be expected to coordinate and integrate their activities.

InteractivA '01 was born as a reaction to the big biennials of electronic art, to the marginalisation experienced by new media artists with limited access to technology, and to the need for creating a space for future generations.This is a brief case study by Raul Ferrera-Balanquet, how to create new media art in a Latin American context.

Authors are sometimes lax in their business affairs. Indeed, an astute observer once commented that authors and agents do lunch not contracts. However, to avoid disputes concerning rights of authorship and ownership, whenever two or more people collaborate to write or develop a creative project, it's wise to have a written collaboration agreement (or appropriate work for hire agreement) that defines each party's rights and obligations. Absent a written agreement, ownership of the authors' creative efforts will be governed by copyright law and the courts not necessarily according to the parties' intention.

Libraries have been part of the building boom that has characterized the cultural world internationally, and particularly the United States, over the last decade. Major new city center public libraries have been completed in Chicago, San Francisco, Denver, Phoenix, San Antonio, Vancouver, Nîmes, Montpellier and Norwich, and more are presently under construction in Marseilles, Salt Lake City and Seattle. Major projects are planned for Milan, Turin, Amsterdam, Minneapolis and Birmingham, to name but a few. London and Paris have two massive new national libraries. And in Egypt, the new Library of Alexandria conjures up the fame of antiquity as the foundation for 21st century economic and cultural revival. Libraries are oddly fashionable, and the rest of the cultural sector is taking an increasing interest in their success and in the key drivers that have secured it...
